The process of manufacturing hot dip galvanizing
The creation of hot-dip galvanized steel involves three core stages to ensure a tight, permanent bond
- Surface Cleaning: Steel is degreased to remove oils, pickled in an acid bath to clear rust and mill scale, and rinsed clean.
- Fluxing: Here, a chemical flux layer is applied to stop any new oxidation from forming before it enters the molten tank.
- Molten Immersion: The clean steel is dipped into a bath of heated zinc (around 98% pure) kept near 450 °C, bonding zinc and iron into tough alloy layers
